Camper Water Hookup Instructions Recreational vehicles are designed for “boondocking,” or camping without hookups. A fresh water tank, volt battery-operated appliances and holding tanks allow most RV travelers to disconnect from utilities for a few days. Hookups provide increased comfort, including the ability to use unlimited water and run items that draw a great deal of power such as televisions and air conditioners. Most RV parks provide either partial hookups, which include electricity and water, or full hookups, which add sewer service. Some deluxe parks also include hookups for cable television and telephone lines. Electricity Requirements Some RVs, including pop-up campers and most travel trailers, use amp electric power. Larger RVs, including motor homes, most fifth-wheels and a few travel trailers, use amp power. It is possible to step the power source up or down with designated electrical cords, allowing amp units to use a amp power supply or amp units to use a amp supply.

The best thing to do is find a campsite with a sewer hookup. That is not always possible, so the rolling tank is the best option. Keep a check on your waste water tank to see how full it is.
The first step is to consider how you will position your RV at the campsite. Try to position your RV on level ground, avoiding any obstacles or muddy ground. If the ground is not completely level, you can use leveling blocks to level it out. Next we will look at a safe and efficient method to hook up your utilities. Hooking Up The first thing you should do is hook up the electricity.
This is because your hands and the ground are dry and will reduce the risk of getting shocked. Once everything is properly connected, you can go ahead and turn it back on. Next you should hook up the water. You should do this before hooking up the sewage to reduce the risk of contaminating your drinking water. You can attach a water pressure regulator to the hydrant to protect against sudden water pressure surges.
Then attach a water filter and finally the hose. Before connecting it to your RV, you should run some water through it to remove any air bubbles.

Check out the map! I also own and operate Find My wife and I purchased a Venture SportTrek travel trailer and quickly started camping and loving it! What we didn’t love was the experience of trying to find campsites with full hookups.
To dump, you need to be parked beside a sewer outlet. This will either be located at your campsite or a dumping station. If you are at a dump station, connect the sewer hose to your RV and then place its end into the sewer hole.
I consider this urban camping at its best. We stayed here five days; it was convenient to relatives house and also attractions in Seattle. If at all possible try to get the sites further back from the main street traffic; traffic is somewhat steady till late in the evening. There’s also some walking residents that cut through the parking lot from the apartment complex behind the Elks Lodge. Sometimes you question first impressions, but there were no issues with anybody and everything was quiet and safe.
I did ask the bartender inside the Elks, if they’d ever had any issues with vandalism. He said in the three years he had been there he had not experienced any so that was a good sign. Remember to call ahead as there are only eight sites there and it seems like people tend to stay for longer periods than what I normally see. I would try to get sites one through five if possible. There was a vacancy when we got there on a Friday which worked out for us, but nobody left till we left five days later.
All utility hookups are in back of your parking spot which is a back-in, so plan accordingly. You may need longer sewer hoses, water hoses etc. I would say this, if you plan on camping here make sure you are comfortable with backing up in tight spots on a incline.
What Is a Full Hookup at an RV Park?
Share Tweet There unfortunately is not a perfect procedure for connecting your utility RV hookups. Awareness Be sure to get a spot in a campground that has the appropriate RV hookups for your type of rig and has enough room to accommodate the size. The coveted pull through sites are always a plus!
If a non-potable water hose is available, run water through the sewer hose to rinse it out. Remove the sewer hose from the dump station hole and rinse the outside of the hose. Rinse the area around the hole to ensure that any spillage has been cleaned up and cover the dump station hole.

Polk Somebody recently asked me what I enjoyed the most about RVing. It didn’t take long for me to respond that it was the people you meet at the campground. I don’t know of anywhere else that you can meet complete strangers and within a couple of hours feel as if you’ve known them forever. People at campgrounds are some of the friendliest most helpful people you will ever meet.
I have seen it time and again when a camper pulls in and they are having problems with something and their next door neighbor, whom they never met, is right there to assist them. I have also observed and assisted several campers who were new to RVing and not really sure how to set their unit up when they arrive at the campground.

Dealing with no RV hookups Jun 30, , 5: It’s past time the Yosemite management realized that and got their head out of the sand. Modern life includes RVs. All it would take would be the installation of some decent electrical service to the campgrounds which accept RVs. The lines could of course be run underground, so the “pristine beauty” would not be disturbed. But just adding electricity would immediately alleviate the long-running discord between the RVers and the tent campers.
